Monday,11/28/2011: Thank you and welcome!

Hello, and thanks for reading CrossFit Kindred’s first blog post! We’ll be posting our WOD (Workout Of the Day) here, along with news and updates, resources, and other musings relevant to the CrossFit Kindred community.

What an apt time to kick this off, as we all return to work/school/life after a weekend of reflecting on what we’re thankful for. In the month or so since we opened our doors, we’ve been so thankful to all the people who have made CrossFit Kindred possible.

First off, we want to thank our family and friends who helped us along the way, whether it was offering business advice, contributing brain, sweat, and muscle to the building of our box, or showing up at our Grand Opening Party to fill the place with love and celebration! We’ve been humbled by the generosity and encouragement we’ve received during this process–from friends and family flying from all across the country to be a part of our opening event, to the gifts we received (including the beautiful wooden rings from Judd Xavier that are now hanging from our ceiling, the bella bars and equipment funds from our CrossFit Silicon Valley friends, and more). Wow. We are so grateful to you for helping us turn our thoughts and dreams into something real and positive!

We also want to thank Judd and Michaela Xavier and the CrossFit Silicon Valley crew for teaching us what true camaraderie is, and for showing us how CrossFit can change lives. They are extraordinary people, and prime examples of how a close and caring community can uplift and inspire change for the better.

Finally, we want to thank you, our client, for making Kindred a part of your life and your journey to fitness. It is not just our sincere hope, but our mission, that through the sweat, tears, struggles, victories, changes and improvements, you will make discoveries that you never thought possible. And just as important is our aim to give you the same support and encouragement that we’ve received ourselves. We are truly blessed to have a place where we can do the meaningful and rewarding work of serving our community, and we promise do our very best.

From the bottom of or hearts: Thank you!

11/28/2011: From turkey to burpee

We want to welcome you to Kindred’s first blog! YAY! (Finally!) We hope you had a great Thanksgiving weekend with friends, family and food. Let’s burn off that turkey and gravy to get get ready for Christmas grub!

*This is the improper way to do burpees. Your hands must touch overhead and ears must be visible in front of your arms; otherwise, it will count as a “No-Rep,” no matter how cute you are.
